Day 1

You will travel through the colorful hills of Pennsylvania on your way to Connecticut for an overnight stay.

Day 2

Enjoy a two-hour sightseeing cruise on the Cape Cod Canal with live narration about the fascinating history and points of interest along the Canal. Hotel for the next three nights is located on the Nantucket Sound.

Day 3

Depart with your local guide to Provincetown at the tip of Cape Cod, the original landing site of the Pilgrims. Stop for photos at Pilgrims’ First Landing Park. Visit the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum. The museum’s exhibits feature pilgrim and maritime history, whaling, and the early days of modern American theater in Provincetown. Board an enclosed, dune taxi for a fun and informational tour across the National Seashore. Enjoy the beauty of nature and endless mountains of sand! Depart Provincetown for a driving tour of the Outer Cape, the area explored by the Pilgrims during their five-week stay in Provincetown. Stop at First Encounter Beach where Pilgrims scouting a settlement location were met by Native American shouts and arrows! At Corn Hill, the Pilgrims found and seized native seed corn that probably kept them from starving the following spring. Other sites of interest include Cape Cod Light, commissioned by George Washington and the first light station on Cape Cod, and the Cape Cod National Seashore Salt Pond Visitor’s Center, where you will see the introductory film "The Sands of Time" describing the geological formation of Cape Cod and the natural forces altering the Cape today.

Day 4

Depart with your local guide to Plymouth, "America’s Hometown". Your day begins with a photo stop at Plymouth Rock. Next, tour the Mayflower II, a full-scale reproduction of the Pilgrim’s ship. Learn about the 1620 voyage, the perils of maritime travel, and explore the passenger’s cramped quarters below. You will also stop at the National Monument to the Forefathers, dedicated to the virtues of the Pilgrims. Tour Pilgrim Hall Museum housing an unmatched collection of Pilgrim possessions, telling the story of brave and determined men and women building lives in a new world. Explore Plimoth Plantation - the 1627 Pilgrim Village, and the Native American Wampanoag Homesite. At the Homesite you will interact with modern day Native Americans in traditional clothing as they practice time honored skills. In the Pilgrim Village, costumed interpreters re-enact life in 1627 performing daily tasks. At the Visitor’s Center view an orientation film, shop at the museum store, and enjoy special exhibits. Enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving Feast at the Plantation.

Day 5

Visit the Aptucxet Trading Post, the replica of a Pilgrim-Dutch trading post and the first known commercial enterprise in English speaking North America. On the grounds you will also see a Dutch style windmill, the Victorian Railroad Station built for the exclusive use of President Grover Cleveland, herb and wildflower gardens and a working salt works. Visit the Cape Cod Canal Visitor Center. Explore the rich history, fascinating features, and vigilant operation of the Cape Cod Canal, view a video presentation on canal history, and observe real time radar and camera images of the waterway. The rocking chairs on the deck provide a perfect spot to enjoy the sea breeze while watching ships transit the Canal. Overnight in Connecticut.

Day 6

You will continue homeward through the welcoming hills of Pennsylvania.

NOTE:  Blue Water Resort in S. Yarmouth, MA - Day 2-4 - is a multi building resort, and does not have elevators. Very limited 1st floor rooms available and walking up several steps is required.  Walking from hotel room to the building the restaurant is located is required.

 

Walking code: 4 - This tour requires a heavy amount of walking. To truly experience the program and destination, you need to be able to participate in physical activities such as long walking tours, walking over uneven terrain, climbing stairs and periods of standing. Some of the touring days may be longer, with select included activities occurring later in the evening.

 

Insurance:  Travel Insurance is optional. To be eligible for the waiver of pre-existing medical condition exclusion, the protection plan must be purchased within 15 days from the time you make your initial trip deposit and for the prepaid non-refundable payments or deposits.  If purchased, the insurance premium is refundable during the 15 day review period, unless you have filed a claim or departed on your trip.  The insurance premium is non-refundable after the 15 day review period.
